Kane is a seasoned psychologist whose experience has spanned a diverse range of settings, including youth community mental health services, injury management/ vocational rehabilitation services, government programs, and private practice. His expertise covers a wider range of presenting issues for clients across the lifespan including traumatic experiences, phobias, anxiety, depression, grief, substance use issues, ADHD, autism, school issues, family conflict, relationship breakdown, culture/identity issues, legal issues/court cases and personality disorders. Kane also works with children and is passionate and creative with play-therapy interventions. Kane offers formal assessments including ADHD and Autism evaluations. Kane is renowned for his down-to-earth manner and warm, welcoming approach and he highly values people’s lived experience with their mental health difficulties.
Kane has particular experience working with treatment modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), In-Vivo Graded Exposure and Prolonged Exposure therapies, Emotion-Focussed Therapy (EFT), Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Relationship and Family Systems Therapy, The Gottman Method for couples therapy, Non-Violent Communication, etc. Kane has highly specialised training and expertise in relational dynamics, assisting couples and families to understand and mend challenging interactions. He always seeks to innovate and improve the standard of mental health interventions whenever possible, having designed and facilitated effective social anxiety group programs, adolescent peer-recovery programs, and educational workshops. Kane also welcomes referrals through the NDIS, Department of Veterans Affairs, Workers Compensation, ICWA motor vehicle accident insurance claims, and other third-party agencies.
